“Careful analysis of the Twitter user experience in the iTunes AppStore revealed massive room for improvement. People are looking for an app from Twitter, and they’re not finding one. So, they get confused and give up. It’s important that we optimize for user benefit and create an awesome experience.”
“We’re thrilled to announce that we’ve entered into an agreement with Atebits (aka Loren Brichter) to acquire Tweetie, a leading iPhone Twitter client. Tweetie will be renamed Twitter for iPhone and made free (currently $2.99) in the iTunes AppStore in the coming weeks. Loren will become a key member of our mobile team that is already having huge impact with device makers and service providers around the world. Loren’s work won the 2009 Apple Design Award and we will eventually launch Twitter for iPad with his help.”

• Multitasking: It’s here, finally. It’s handled with a simple task switcher: double click your home button, and you get a list of running apps. Select, switch, done. Multitasking is limited to audio, VoIP (Skype!) and GPS apps.
• Fast app switching: With iPhone 4′s multitasking, most apps aren’t actually running in the background—just certain functions of the app, like an audio stream or a GPS lock. But! All apps can now be frozen, in full, so that when you reopen them, they’re restored to exactly the state they were in when they were closed.
•Per-app SMS and alerts: Notifications can be sent from apps on the phone, not just remote services. In other words, if something important happens in an app you’ve opened and navigated away from, a notification will pop up in whatever app you’re using at the time.
• App folders: Now you can sort your apps into folders! That’s homscreen clutter solved, then.
• Custom Backgrounds: Jailbreakers have them. Hell, the iPad has them. Now you can choose a persistent background for your iPhone—and not just for the lockscreen.
• 5x digital zoom: Could this hint at a higher quality camera? 3.2 megapixels seems a bit low for 5x digital zoom.
• Tap to focus video
• Bluetooth keyboards: Another carryover from the iPad, Bluetooth keyboard support will finally come to iPhone 4.0.
Thieves Cut Hole in Roof and Rappel Down to Steal 20 Apple Laptops from a Best Buy, Never Touching the Floor or Setting Off Any Motion Detectors

Some pretty crafty thieves in South Brunswick NJ got away with $26,000 worth of Apple Laptops by climbing up a pipe on the side of a Best Buy, cutting a hole in the roof, and rappelling down “mission impossible” style. They never set off any alarms and the store only noticed the next morning when employees showed up.

They didn’t appear on store security cameras. They cut a hole in the roof and came in at a spot where the cameras were obscured by advertising banners.
And they left with some $26,000 in laptop computers, departing the same way they came in — down a 3-inch gas pipe that runs from the roof to the ground outside the store.
“High level of sophistication,” said Detective James Ryan, a police department spokesman. “They never set off any motion sensors. They never touched the floor. They rappelled in and rappelled out.”
“I would say they were a professional crew,” said Harris, who is based in Atlanta, Ga., but does work throughout the nation. “At least I’ve never dealt with anything like this. From time to time, people break in, but not usually through the roof.”
